Questions pressure washing owners ask about marketing

Straight answers on reviews, Google Ads, before-and-after video, HOA accounts, the slow season, the benchmark data and the free 14-day trial.

How many Google reviews does a pressure washing company need?

Enough to beat the three companies you show up beside, which is a lower bar than most owners think. Across 27,078 listings the median is 9 reviews and 51.3% have fewer than 10. In a mid-sized metro the companies holding the map pack usually sit between 60 and 150. The 90th percentile is 103. If you finish 15 jobs a week and ask at every one, you clear the median inside a month. See the reviews guide.

What actually sells a pressure washing job in an ad?

Before-and-after footage of a surface you can recognize. Not a logo, not a stock photo of a wand, not a discount code. A 15-second vertical clip of a surface cleaner cutting a clean stripe across a black driveway outperforms every designed graphic we have run in this niche, usually by two to four times on cost per lead. Shoot it on your phone, hold the camera still, start on the filthy half. The Meta ads guide covers the edit.

What should I charge for a house wash?

In most US markets a single-story house wash runs $250 to $425 and a two-story runs $400 to $700, priced by exterior square footage rather than by hour. Driveways are commonly $0.15 to $0.30 per square foot with a $150 minimum. Roof soft washing runs $500 to $1,100. What matters more than the exact number is that you quote a bundle, because a house wash plus driveway plus walkway at $625 closes nearly as often as the $325 driveway alone. More in the pricing guide.

Is Google Ads worth it for a pressure washer?

In spring, yes, if you can answer the phone. Expect $18 to $45 per call on exact-match terms like "driveway cleaning near me" and "house washing [city]". The washers who lose money on Google Ads are running broad match on "pressure washing", which drags in equipment rentals, parts, career searches and commercial RFPs. Start at $30 a day, exact and phrase only, and put a negative list in on day one. The Google Ads guide has the starting negative list.

How do I get HOA and property management accounts?

By making one call a week to the community manager, not by emailing a bid packet. HOAs re-bid sidewalks, breezeways, dumpster pads and pool decks on a schedule, usually in the first quarter for spring work. Ask which month they bid, get on the list, and send a one-page price sheet with a photo of a similar property you have done. One 400-unit community on a twice-yearly walkway contract is worth more than 30 driveways and it never cancels for rain. See the commercial and seasonality guide.

Does neighborhood clustering really work?

Yes, and it is the cheapest lead source in this trade. Put a yard sign in front of the house you just washed, leave 20 door hangers on the neighbors with the address you just cleaned written on them, and post the before-and-after in that neighborhood's Facebook group. A clean house is a visible advertisement that runs for two weeks. Route density also cuts your drive time, which is the real cost in a one-truck operation.

Should I post in local Facebook groups?

Post, but do not sell. Neighborhood and buy-sell-trade groups remove ads and ban repeat posters. What works is answering the recommendation threads that appear every week ("anyone know a good pressure washer?") within an hour, with one sentence and no link, and posting a genuine before-and-after when you have actually worked in that subdivision. That combination fills April and May for a lot of one-truck operators without any ad spend.

What do I do in January and February?

Sell the work that is not weather-dependent and sell the work that gets booked ahead. Commercial dumpster pads, gas station forecourts and restaurant drive-thrus wash year-round in most of the country. Holiday-light removal and gutter cleaning fill December and January. And February is when you should be pre-selling spring at a deposit-held rate, because your competitors are all waiting until the first warm Saturday. The seasonality guide maps out a full year.

Do I need a website if my Google profile is good?

The data says the two travel together. Pressure washing companies with a website carry a median of 17 reviews; those without carry 2. 31.7% of listings link no site at all. We do not claim the site causes the reviews, but the website is where Google and the AI answer engines confirm what you clean, where you drive, and that you are a real business. It is also where a $700 roof-wash buyer decides whether to trust you.

Is the benchmark data trustworthy?

It is public data collected at scale, so read it as accurate to within a point or two, not to the decimal. Listings are deduplicated by Google place and the whole set is refreshed monthly. Google does not publish these aggregates itself, which is the reason we build them. The full method is on the about page.

Where does the benchmark data come from?

Public Google Business Profile listings found through Google Maps searches for pressure washing companies in every US state, 27,078 of them across 51 states. We keep only public business fields, never reviewer names or personal information. Anyone can spot-check any figure by pulling up a dozen listings in their own city.

What is included in the free 14-day trial?

Any one of the services we run, or several at once: Google Ads management, Meta ads, AI search optimization, local SEO and Google Business Profile work, website design, social media management, review generation, missed-call text-back and follow-up, email and SMS campaigns, bookkeeping, and cold-call appointment setting. Setup, management and reporting are included. If you choose to run ads, the money paid to Google or Meta is yours and stays in your own ad account.

What happens after the 14 days?

You decide, and we tell you the monthly price before the trial starts so there is no surprise. Keep the service, switch to a different one, or stop. Nothing renews on its own, nothing is charged during the trial, and there is no cancellation step because there is nothing to cancel.

Do I have to give a credit card?

No. There is no card on file at any point in the trial. What we ask for is access to the accounts involved, your Google profile among them, and about 20 minutes on a setup call so we get your service radius, your pricing and your no-go list right. Most services are live within 48 hours of that call; a website takes about a week to a first draft.
