The one-hour Google profile checklist for a pressure washing company

By Steven Von · 2026-10-08 · 4 min read

Twelve fixes you can make to a pressure washing Google Business Profile in under an hour, in order, with what each one does and how long it takes.

Your profile gets views but the phone is quiet. Usually that is not a ranking problem. It is a profile that answers none of the questions a homeowner has before they call.

You can fix most of it in an hour. Set a timer, open your Google Business Profile on a laptop, and work down this list in order. The times are realistic for someone who has never touched these settings.

Before you start (2 minutes)

Search your business name on your phone, not your laptop. Look at what a customer sees: the photos, the review count, the hours line, the first line of the description. Take a screenshot. You will compare against it at the end.

Then check where you stand. Across 27,078 pressure washing listings in our data, 63.4% show no hours, 31.7% link no website, and 17.8% have no reviews at all. Every gap you close on this list moves you past a slice of the field.

The checklist

1. Primary category (2 minutes). It should be Pressure washing service. If it says anything else, change it. Keep secondary categories to the work you actually want, two at most. Details on why are in the profile setup guide.

2. Hours (3 minutes). Set the hours you answer the phone, not the hours you are on a job. Include Saturday, even a short window. Only 28.4% of the field lists Saturday hours, and Saturday is when homeowners stare at their dirty driveway.

3. Holiday hours (2 minutes). Add special hours for Thanksgiving and the December holidays now, while you are in there. Accurate status keeps you from looking closed when you are not.

4. Service area (3 minutes). Cities and zip codes you will actually drive to for your minimum ticket. A tight area ranks better inside it than a sprawling one ranks anywhere.

5. Services list (10 minutes). Add each job as its own service with a one-line description: house washing, driveway and concrete, roof soft washing, deck and fence, patio and pool deck, gutter brightening, commercial flatwork. Add a starting price where you can, like "Driveways from $150". Shoppers who see a price call ready to book.

6. Business description (5 minutes). First sentence: what you do, where, and one reason to pick you. "Soft wash house washing and driveway cleaning in Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler, fully insured, most jobs quoted by text the same day." That first line is the part people read, and the part AI answers quote.

7. Website link (1 minute). If you have a site, link it, and link the page that has a call button at the top. If you do not have one, this is your sign. Listings with a website carry a median of 17 reviews against 2 for those without. The website guide covers what the site needs.

8. Photos (10 minutes). Upload ten real before and after shots from this year, each named with the job and the town before upload, like "driveway-cleaning-gilbert.jpg". Delete anything blurry, dark or stock. Set your best before and after as the cover. The cover photo does more selling than anything else on the profile.

9. Logo and cover check (2 minutes). Logo square and readable at thumbnail size. If your cover is your logo, swap it for a job photo.

10. Review link (3 minutes). Click "Ask for reviews", copy the short link, and save it as a text shortcut on your phone. Send it from the driveway at the end of every job. The reviews guide has the exact line to say and the text to send.

11. Answer every review (5 minutes). Reply to any unanswered reviews, including old ones. Two sentences each, mention the service and the town naturally. "Thanks Dana, glad the driveway in Chandler came out the way you wanted." Owner replies show you are active and keep the listing looking alive.

12. One post (5 minutes). Post one photo and two sentences about what you are booking this month. Right now that is the pre-holiday window: driveways, walkways and front entries before guests arrive. Posts do not move rankings much, but they make the profile look current to someone deciding between you and two other washers.

After the hour (3 minutes)

Search your business name on your phone again and compare it to your screenshot. You should now see hours, an open or closed line, real photos, a services list with prices, and owner replies.

Then put two things on the calendar. One photo and one post every week, ten minutes. And a review ask on every single job, which costs no time at all once the text shortcut is saved.

What this list does not fix

A profile can be perfect and still lose calls if nobody picks up. If you are on a ladder or behind a surface cleaner most of the day, set up a missed-call text-back so every caller gets a reply within a minute. The missed calls guide has the message, and the calculator shows what the missed ones are costing you.

If you would rather hand the profile to someone else, any service is available as a free 14-day trial, no card. Text or call (801) 590-3890.
